Englewood Cliffs, NJ – Alliance Shippers Inc., a leading provider of global logistics services, has been selected as a Green Supply Chain Partner for 2017 by Inbound Logistics magazine. Alliance Shippers has received this honor six years running.
“We proudly pave the way by seeking out and implementing smart, sustainable business solutions that balance environmental benefits with the needs of our customers,” said Larry Henry, VP of Alliance Shippers Logistics & Special Projects.
As a partner of the EPA’s SmartWay program since 2006, Alliance Shippers has continuously worked to improve sustainability. The company recently added 200 energy-efficient refrigerated trailers to increase its fleet to more than 2,100 CARB-compliant trailers. Building their fleet of refrigerated trailers with the most current technology enables Alliance Shippers to move refrigerated goods via the nations railroad system -- resulting in reduced CO2 emissions by approximately 67% as compared to the same goods moved via highway trucks.
Alliance Shippers green strides also extend to the company’s Keasbey, N.J., warehouse, which produces the majority of its power supply from solar arrays.
Criteria for recognition as a Green Supply Chain Partner included four key benchmarks: measurable green results, sustainability innovation, continuous improvement, and industry recognition.
